Benissa is an attractive town where the sea and the mountains come together to create beautiful landscapes. It has a coastline of 4 kilometers with some of the most beautiful coves on the Costa Blanca. The crystal clear waters are the perfect setting for practicing water sports such as diving, sailing, windsurfing, and kayaking. Hiking is another activity that is widely practiced here in the mountains that surround the city, such as the Serra de Bèrnia with its many hiking trails.
Be sure to try the local cuisine in Benissa, with excellent rice dishes and embutidos (sausages).
The old town is also not to be missed! It has a distinctly medieval character with buildings such as the 15th-century Mercado de la Constitutión, Renaissance palaces, the neo-Gothic cathedral of La Marina and Desamparados street, full of stately homes with wrought iron railings.
In April, Benissa celebrates its local festivals in honor of its patron saint, Purísima Xiqueta, while in June, the Moors and Christian festivals take place.
