As we approach Altea by car, the old town appears against the monumental backdrop of the Sierra Bernia.
The old town is located on a hill and is characterized by the unique blue and white tiled domes of the parish church, dedicated to the Virgen del Consuelo. From the square of this church you can see the entire region.
From there, paved and stepped alleys descend between the beautiful white houses that characterize Altea. Along the way there are various viewpoints and we find numerous artists' studios, craft shops and cozy squares.
The atmosphere is bohemian and relaxed, typical of coastal towns with a pleasant climate. Good gastronomy, elegant restaurants, trendy pubs, flower-decorated patios and charming roof terraces ... Altea is romantic and unforgettable!
At the foot of the hill, in the 'new' center of Altea, you will find the shopping street and the port where a large fishing activity takes place. Along the city's coastline stretches a large promenade, a flat and wide boulevard with a huge range of catering establishments and shops. There is a surprising variety of restaurants, from Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine, to dishes from various European countries, to restaurants specialising in delicious Asian dishes. Terraces and cocktail bars have something for everyone, from the most refined chill-out to the warming Caribbean rhythm.
In Altea, two festivals stand out: the fireworks in the Castell de L'Olla (August) and the Moors and Christians (end of September).
