Calpe is a city with a long history and deep traditions and also one of the most important tourist destinations on the Costa Blanca.

The marina, the promenade and the eleven kilometres of coastline, marked by cliffs, beaches and coves, are some of its attractions. But the greatest attraction is the Peñón de Ifach, an immense limestone mass 332 metres high that juts out into the sea and from which this city was founded. The territory has been declared a Natural Park and offers the best views of Calpe and its coast from above. The current centre of Calpe developed around the rock, as evidenced by the numerous remains found in the area, including the Baños de la Reina, an ancient salt factory from Roman times.

The mild climate, together with the orographic characteristics of the area, make this municipality an ideal place for all types of visitors: from sun lovers to lovers of (water) sports.

The traditional gastronomy of Calpe is mainly based on rice and fish. In addition to the famous Arròs del Senyoret, you can also try other rice dishes with beans and turnips, accompanied by chard or baked. Other typical dishes include octopus stew and Llauna de Calpe.

As is usual in the rest of the towns in Alicante, Calpe has a calendar full of festivities. From Carnival, through the Fallas de San José (March 19) and the Hogueras de San Juan (June 24) to the Fiestas de Moros y Cristianos (October). The patron saint festivities, in honour of the Virgen de las Nieves, are celebrated on August 5.
